The Eternal Stones 1-2 eBook Bundle

The Eternal Stones is updated and shiny in a brand new edition with extra chapters and scenes!

But instead of the usual boring post about the how and why, I wrote a little and hopefully funny conversation between the author and her characters discussing the changes, so here’s how it went.

Allison is sitting at her desk. In front of her: Kyra, Jonathan, and Kris.

Allison: Hello, and welcome to this meeting! I have some exciting news for you.

Jonathan: Why is it only the three of us?

Allison: You’re the main characters in what I’m about to announce, and I wanted your opinion.

Kyra (bouncing excitedly in her chair): What is it?

Kris: Glad to be included in this… whatever it is.

Allison (grinning): We’re doing a new edition of Flower of Light!

Kyra: That’s so cool!

Jonathan (not particularly interested): All right.

Kris: Excellent News. Are we doing this because the first edition sold out?

Allison (wiping sweat from her temple): Not really (we actually didn’t sell that many copies). I… I had to fix a few things… you know those annoying typos and weird word choices from the translation… (also I accidentally spoiled the new Wardens in the character list at the end of the book because I copy-pasted it from Book Two).

Jonathan: You what?

Allison: Nothing. Don’t worry about it. But since I have to do these small edits, and in the meantime we’ve written some extra stories, I figured it would be nice to make a new extended edition with about 30 extra pages, and update the book cover.

Kris: That sounds very reasonable.

Kyra: What’s wrong with the old covers?

Allison: First of all, having two versions of them is a bit of an issue, especially when I have to make promo materials – I never know how to fit them both – and second, the cover with the blonde lady and the fiery book… I think it’s a bit misleading. (Shows them the cover)

Kyra: Why? It’s so pretty…

Jonathan: By the way, who is this hot lady you picked to represent Kyra?

Allison: That’s not Kyra. That’s her mother.

Jonathan (flustered): Oh. She did seem a bit… older…

Kyra (clueless): Hot lady because of the fire?

Jonathan (clears throat): Yeah. Sure.

Allison: Anyway, as I was saying, it’s not a good fit because it gives more “romance” vibes than “epic fantasy”, which should be the genre of our main books, considered how much magic and fights you get into, and the romantic parts are just a minor subplot. So, I thought it would be better to stick to the cover with the Bluand crest – the one we used for the hard cover edition.

Kris: I like that one, it’s elegant and tasteful.

Jonathan: Yeah, I guess that should work better. I’d probably never pick up a book with a fancy-dressed Lady on the cover. I’d just assume it’s some boring story about nobles and parties.

Kyra: Women can fight too!

Jonathan: Then she should be wielding a sword or something. That cover doesn’t say anything about fighting. You know how many Lizard Men and Mists soldiers I had to face in this book? (Not to mention those creepy skeletons…)

Kyra: Well, I guess Jon has a point.

Allison: Also, I’m discontinuing the hard cover edition.

Kris: To save paper and be more environmentally conscious?

Allison (muttering): Because we sold like three copies and it’s a pain to keep three different formats updated…

Jonathan: Really? The hard cover was so cool.

Allison: I know, but it’s expensive. Maybe I’ll bring it back if there’s a demand. At the moment, we’ll only do the eBook and paperback versions with the same cover. Now, let’s talk about the bonus chapters. The first one is the story written by Mark about Ulrich’s team clearing the Lizard Men’s nest.

Kris: That’s a great story. The team did a wonderful job dealing with those dangerous creatures.

Jonathan (nodding): The twins were on fire, and Natrix’s move at the end was so clever.

Allison (nodding as well): The second new chapter involves the three of you. You haven’t read it yet.

Kyra: What is it about?

Allison: It’s from your journey to the Star Kingdom, in the first part of the book. Since I skipped most of that, I though I could squeeze in some extra action. So, you set up camp, and Kyra takes a bath in a stream…

Jonathan (raises a brow): We get a bath scene?

Allison: She’ll keep her underwear on – we’re still 16+ – don’t get any ideas.

Jonathan (looking away): I’m a gentleman. (Casually sips some tea)

Allison: Though, her wet underwear is quite transparent.

Jonathan (chokes on the tea): And I get to… see that?

Allison: Yes. And then you get shot by arrows.

Jonathan: Wait. What do you mean shot by arrows?

Allison: I mean hit. Three times. Then there’s a fight scene. I won’t spoil everything…

Kris: That sounds painful.

Kyra (alarmed): It is painful! Why would you do that to him?

Allison: Hey, it’s not my fault the Mists want him dead.

Jonathan: You literally wrote the story.

Allison: Listen, this is how it works: if I write it, it happens. if I scrap it, it never happened. What do you want me to do? You’re not going to die, OBVIOUSLY, or the rest of the book wouldn’t happen.

Kyra: We can skip this one, if it’s not necessary to the plot… I don’t want Jon to get hurt…

Kris: Do I get hurt as well?

Allison: Nah, you’ll be fine. You get to shoot some arrows and look cool.

Kris pauses to ponder.

Jonathan: So… if you don’t publish this story, I won’t get wounded by arrows – you said three of them? Where exactly?

Allison (nodding): Straight in the chest, vital organs and all. But you can heal yourself, so…

Jonathan: But also I don’t get to see Kyra’s bath scene…?

Allison (whispering): She also hugs you – still in her wet underwear.

Jonathan (stone-faced): I’ll take the arrows.

Kris chuckles quietly.

Kyra (frowning slightly): I don’t get what’s so interesting about wet underwear…

Allison (smiling): Well. I think we’ve reached an agreement. (under her breath) I also sneaked in an extra kissing scene between you-know-who

Jonathan (scoffs): Those two already have their own romance side-story. You gave them way too many scenes and they’re not even the main characters.

Allison: Hey, I’m the author. Do you want me to cut off your kissing scenes instead?

Jonathan: What? No way! All right, I’ll shut up.

Allison (smiling again): Perfect. Now back to work. Time to prepare the new edition. It’s going to be great! And after that, we can do a two-books bundle for Patreon!

The Eternal Stones series is already up on Amazon and a two-books bundle with extra content is available on Patreon at a discounted price (or as a download for the last tier).

So you can either get the copies right away and binge the whole thing or just keep following and read along with us, chapter by chapter, with some extra commentary and the ability to comment in real time, as I post them weekly.

Whatever your choice, get ready for an epic adventure!
